A MAN OF COURAGE

*A Man of Courage*

That a lot of people have  yearned for his excellency Atiku Abubakar, the Wazirin Adamawa, to declare his intention to become the next president of Nigeria would be an understatement, a lot of people, including yours truly, also waited impatiently for him to. And when he went for a visitation in Portharcout to  discuss about the  progress of the country,So many people  took it as an act of  declaration because of the love and trust they  have in his abilities , where the sitting president had been denied his unnecessary junketing, to commission projects he knows nothing about, even if they are mere motor parks.

Many aspirants would have quickly changed their plans to unveil their intention in Porthacourt, before a leading opposition figure like Wike, someone who spells trouble for the president. But not Atiku! This is a man who knows what he wants and he won’t be cowed about it.

Atiku and courage has been a recurring theme, even when these instances have been an impediment to his political career, it hasn’t stopped him from doing what is right. We may sound like a broken record to some people, only because broken records repeats what we are tired of listening to. From a culture were we sit beside the fire in the cool of the night, to listen to tales of bravery of those who had fought great battles, the story of Atiku says exactly the same.

As a young custom officer, he intercepted boxes loaded with cash that. Buhari’s ADC smuggled into the country while his boss turned a blind eye, ironically, he is declaring his intentions against this same man and it hasn’t stopped him from following through.

Again, we know how much he worked to twat the Obasanjo third term bid, another irony stares us in the face, Obasanjo might not be the president, but he is gathering a formidable force to unseat Buhari and perhaps stop any other person who is not his anointed.

Obasanjo is still regarded as very powerful in some circles, perhaps feared and reverend, but this has not stopped Atiku, he is not thinking of how he was hounded by the Obasanjo political machines, to make sure that he never succeeded him, he is courageous enough to forge ahead with his dreams that will translate into ideas and reality later.

Atiku presented himself at the best time he could possibly do, Nigerians are smarter, especially, coming out of the deceit they found themselves in, after a vacuous candidate was sold to them as reformed and firing on all cylinders, we have come to a time and place were we place emphasis on qualifications and antecedent.

Atiku has shown courage in the face of opposition, he has shown tolerant. When he left the PDP, he didn’t compel his followers to follow, especially Boni Haruna, who was the governor of Adamawa state and who would have been the deputy governor, if Atiku had refused the call to serve the nation as a Vice President, he also showed religious tolerance when he disparaged the call for someone to replace Boni Haruna, who is a Christian.
He has shown commitment to business, this is glaring, he has successfully built a chains of businesses, ranging from education, oil and gas, logistics and recently, a food chain, he is a shrewd and astute manager.

Atiku offers a new generation of Nigerians a respite from the doldrums APC government has plunged them, he offers a new hope, a bridge between the old and new, experience, youth and mentorship, by what he has promised of 40% youth participation.

Atiku will be the last of the old brigade, the one that will usher youths into their rest in Nigeria politics and economics, in decision making and drive for prosperity and social economic liberty.
Nigerians earnestly yearn for the manifestation of the Atiku phenomenon.
